Prayers Pour In as DAAICF Visits the Oldest Men and Women Across the 16 Communities of Egi Kingdom
In continuation of its commitment to humanitarian service and care for vulnerable members of society, the Dr. Andrew A. Igwe Care Foundation (DAAICF), led by its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Andrew A. Igwe, embarked on a special community outreach programme on March 31, 2025, to visit the oldest men and women in all sixteen communities that make up Egi Kingdom.
The initiative was inspired by the Foundation's core value of caring for the less privileged and ensuring that the basic needs of vulnerable individuals, particularly the elderly, are met.
During the visits, the Foundation distributed food items, toiletries, and cash gifts to the oldest male and female residents in each community. The gesture was met with heartfelt appreciation, prayers, and blessings from the beneficiaries and their families.
Speaking during the visit, Elder Blacky Isabu, the oldest man in Erema Community, expressed profound gratitude to the Foundation for its love and concern for elderly citizens.
He noted that for many years, elderly people often felt forgotten by society, but the Foundation's continued outreach had restored hope and reassurance that they were still remembered and valued.
It would be recalled that on December 22, 2023, as part of activities marking the Foundation's 15th Anniversary, DAAICF visited and supported the oldest men and women across the four zones of Egi Kingdom. The 2025 outreach expanded the initiative to cover all sixteen communities in the clan.
Similarly, the oldest man in Itu Community, Elder Nwobi, initially inquired whether the outreach was a government-sponsored programme and whether the items were intended specifically for him. Upon learning that the initiative was solely sponsored by the Foundation and intended for his personal benefit, he offered prayers and words of appreciation for Dr. Andrew Igwe and the Foundation.
The outreach took an interesting turn in the Umu Obor Zone when rainfall began during the journey. Rather than discouraging the team, the rain seemed to energize and motivate them to continue their mission of service to the elderly.
Throughout the exercise, the joy, gratitude, and emotional reactions of the beneficiaries highlighted the impact of the Foundation's intervention. The smiles on the faces of the elderly men and women served as a reminder of the importance of showing love, care, and appreciation to senior citizens who have contributed to the growth of their communities over the years.
The communities visited during the outreach included:
Erema
Ibewa Aliocha
Itu
Obukegi
Obiozimini
Akabta
Egita
Obiyebe
Obite
Ogbogu
Ede
Obagi
Obigbor
Ohali Elu
Oboburu
Akabuka
The Foundation prayed for God's continued provision and guidance to enable it to sustain initiatives that support elderly citizens and other vulnerable members of society.
As the saying goes, “Grey hair is a blessing,” and the Foundation remains committed to honouring and caring for the aged within our communities.
To God be all the glory.
