Dr. Andrew Igwe Holds Umu-Ogbo Family Entrepreneurship Empowerment, Gifts Akabuka Women, Receives Honour from Beneficiary

As Christians around the world celebrated the Easter season in remembrance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Founder and Chief Executive of Dr. Andrew Igwe Care Foundation, Dr. Andrew Igwe, returned to his hometown, Akabuka, on Thursday to host the 2nd Edition of the Umu-Ogbo Entrepreneurship Empowerment Programme.

The Umu-Ogbo Entrepreneurship Empowerment is a family support and poverty alleviation initiative established by Dr. Igwe to equip women of the Umu-Ogbo family with business startup funds. The initiative is aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship, boosting family economies, and promoting financial independence among women.

It would be recalled that on March 30, 2025, five women received ₦400,000 each as startup support for their businesses. On Thursday, April 2, 2026, another set of beneficiaries also received business startup funds under the programme.

While admonishing the beneficiaries, the Resident Pastor of Assemblies of God Church (AG1), Akabuka, Rev. Lawrence Cookey-Gam, charged the women from Proverbs 31:13 to remain prudent, devoted, and intentional in managing and investing the funds given to them.

Reacting to the gesture, the eldest man of the Umu-Ogbo family, Elder Liana Shadrack Okoroma, urged the beneficiaries not to divert the funds to household expenses but to use them strictly for the intended business purposes.

Similarly, Elder Mechi B. Igwe appreciated Dr. Igwe for his benevolence toward the Umu-Ogbo family and encouraged the recipients not to misuse the rare opportunity given to them.

The beneficiaries, in turn, thanked Dr. Igwe and promised to remain committed and faithful in utilizing the opportunity productively.

In the same spirit of giving and sacrifice, on Saturday, April 3, 2026, Dr. Igwe hosted the Akabuka Women Executive, led by their Chairperson, Mrs. Ebere Patience. During the visit, Dr. Igwe gifted over 400 wrappers to women in the community.

The gesture was in fulfillment of a personal decision made by Dr. Igwe to appreciate the Akabuka women for the significant role they played during the burial ceremony of his late mother.

Speaking on behalf of the Akabuka women, Mrs. Ebere Patience lauded the thoughtful and generous gesture of the philanthropist and prayed for God to continue blessing and replenishing him.

Shortly after the women executives departed, Dr. Igwe welcomed another set of visitors in what was described as a practical reflection of the biblical story where one out of ten healed lepers returned to say thank you.

Mr. ThankGod Gift Edem paid Dr. Andrew Igwe a thank-you visit in appreciation of the fatherly role, support, and assistance he received throughout his undergraduate and postgraduate education.

Mr. ThankGod described Dr. Igwe as a father figure who took him in as a son, sheltered him, clothed him, and provided him with the gift of education.

Responding to the visit, Barr. (Mrs.) Joy Andrew Igwe thanked Mr. ThankGod and his entourage for remembering the little seeds her husband had sown into his life.

Dr. Igwe expressed delight over the appreciation visit and encouraged everyone to learn the value of gratitude, noting that appreciation opens doors to greater opportunities.

To God Be The Glory.
