DR. ANDREW A. IGWE CARE FOUNDATION INSTALLS CLASSROOM WHITEBOARDS AT GSS AKABUKA (UBE)

DR. ANDREW A. IGWE CARE FOUNDATION INSTALLS CLASSROOM WHITEBOARDS AT GSS AKABUKA (UBE)

The Dr. Andrew A. Igwe Care Foundation (DAAICF) has donated and installed new classroom white marker boards at Government Secondary School, Akabuka (UBE), providing the seven classroom blocks of the school with modern writing boards, packs of marker pens, and whiteboard wipes/cleaners.

The intervention was borne out of an appeal made by the Principal of the school when members of staff and students paid a visit to Dr. Andrew A. Igwe at his Akabuka residence.

Recall that on 25th March 2026, Dr. Andrew Igwe’s Purple House emerged winner of the GSS Akabuka (UBE) Inter-House Sports competition.

On 1st May 2026, the school paid Dr. Igwe a courtesy visit to present the winning trophy to him. During the visit, it was revealed that the school did not have trophies of its own. In response, Dr. Igwe surprised the delegation by providing and presenting the school with three sets of brand-new trophies for its ownership and continued use.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the school to draw Dr. Igwe’s attention to the poor condition of its classroom writing boards. In response to the appeal, Dr. Igwe promised to replace the boards.

Today, that promise has been fulfilled.

Through the Dr. Andrew A. Igwe Care Foundation, the classrooms have now transitioned from traditional blackboards to modern white marker boards, creating a cleaner and more conducive teaching and learning environment for both teachers and students.

While making the presentation on behalf of the Foundation, Pst. Izu Eresia-Eke commended the students who resumed school on the very first day and charged them to remain good ambassadors of GSS Akabuka.

Drawing from his own experiences as a student, he encouraged them to remain committed to their studies while holding firmly to the virtues of humility, respect and, most importantly, the fear of God.

The Principal, Mr. Blessing Onuoha, on behalf of the staff and students, expressed appreciation to Dr. Andrew Igwe and the Foundation for the timely intervention. He noted that the new boards would significantly improve the classroom experience, allowing students to learn without struggling to see what their teachers had written.

“Even we, the teachers, the era of buying chalk and having chalk dust all over our bodies has ended. We will now be writing with marker pens, which is the global standard.”

— Mr. Blessing Onuoha

The excitement among the students was unmistakable as they returned from their long holiday to discover the unexpected transformation in their classrooms.

What began as an appeal has today become a fulfilled promise and another investment in the educational development of the Akabuka community.

Congratulations to the staff and students of Government Secondary School, Akabuka (UBE).

In all you do, put humanity first.
